Ellsworth Kelly is presented at Arthur Tooth & Sons in his first solo show in London. The exhibition includes twenty paintings and drawings made between 1957 and 1962, including Brooklyn Bridge VII and White Dark Blue. Lawrence Alloway writes the essay for the catalogue for which Kelly designs the cover. “In many of the paintings the shapes seem to possess both the sympathetic, reassuring character of organic forms, with implications of softness and vulnerability…” (Sylvester, D., The New Statesman, June 9, 1962).
Ellsworth Kelly organized by Peter Cochrane at Arthur Tooth & Sons in London opens May 29 through June 23.
