Ellsworth Kelly Centennial Celebration
Ellsworth Kelly is widely regarded as one of the most important painters, sculptors, draftsmen, and printmakers of his time. On the occasion of his May 31 centennial, a year-long celebration will showcase the artist’s indelible legacy. This collaborative event includes exhibitions at several museums and galleries across the U.S. and Europe; new publications; a scholarly symposium; and new digital initiatives to ensure that Kelly’s legacy endures for another 100 years, and beyond.
In rural Columbia County, NY where Kelly lived and worked for nearly 50 years, the community will celebrate a hometown hero with several special events including the dedication of the historic Town Hall, a screening of the documentary film, Ellsworth Kelly: Fragments; a show of Kelly’s historic exhibition posters; and, for the first time,an open house at the artist’s Spencertown studio.
